Fabrication & Assembly Facilities
VT Fitzroy has three fabrication and assembly workshops at its disposal, the largest being 139m long and 27m wide. Crane capacity in the main fabrication shop is 20 tonne with a height under hook of 6.1m.
VT Fitzroy is able to undertake light, medium and heavy fabrication work on-site.
Typical projects include:
- manufacture and assembly of specialist machinery
- plate rolling
- manufacture of pressure vessels (to BS5500, ASME VIII specifications)
- manufacture and repair of ventilation and extraction ducts
- manufacture of sheetmetal furniture
- heavy plate profiling
- pipe fabrication and spooling
- seam and circumferential welding
Heat treatment can also be provided for certain fabrications.
A fully equipped sheet metal working facility allows for light fabrication in materials such as mild steel, aluminium and stainless steel.
The pipework facility provides both a marine and domestic plumbing service, allowing the manufacture, repair and testing of both low and high pressure piping systems of various materials and configurations.
The survey department provides all types of non-destructive testing, ranging from tank testing and load testing to crack detection and thickness testing. The unit comprises of experienced surveyors who are recognised by a number of certification and classification bodies, including Lloyds and A.B.S.
The facilities and personnel available offer extensive marine fabrication and repair services either alongside, in dock or at sea.
